Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with former coach Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This marks his maiden title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from March of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

His counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.

He defended 4 initial chances in a close third set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
